So, where did the 'Tavistock' model of organisational consultancy start and ....who was associated with these beginnings?

So, where did the 'Tavistock' model of organisational consultancy start and ....who was associated with these beginnings?

The name to start with and whose legacy lives on, is a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist called Isabel Menzies-Lyth: She was born in Scotland in 1917 but moved to London, where she joined colleagues that she had met during the war where they were developing ideas about social dynamics while working with officer training.

While at the Tavistock Clinic, she and other colleagues, refined these ideas into a more coherent model, trying to understand and describe, why organisations/institutions spend so much energy failing at, indeed sabotaging, their primary task,s when clearly nobody within them consciously plans that that should be so.

I'll look at why this might be so in my next 'post'.
